In 1995, in Italy, next to the Tiber River, a meteorite is falling. It contains disputes of the mineral (no, this is not a description), which will subsequently fill in the most planet, gradually pulling the most valuable resources in the form of crystals from the bowels of the Earth. In the short term, Tiberius is the salvation of civilization standing on the verge of an energy disaster. In Long – that is still a weed: the destroyer of the whole life on Earth, the new worldwide flood, creeping apocalypse.
Tiberia sprouts
Fifteen years ago plot undershishes Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn not only set the coordinates of the new franchise Westwood Studios (Demiurges of the RTS genre and authors of the same Dune 2 ), but also predicted the fate of the whole saga C & C. In the short term, the brand was waiting for a deafening success. In the Long-transformation into the main curse of the developers, their pride, but at the same time an expensive yoke, gradually pulling wonderful people from Las Vegas to the bottom of the debt pit. The value of the C & C-mineral turned out to be temporary, and the effect is passing. The peak, taken on Tiberian Dawn, was conquered repeatedly to Tiberian Sun, but subsequent attempts failed – despite all the efforts of Westwood herself and her greedy heiress Electronic Arts.
In terms of C& C gameplay, it is rightfully considered the most dynamic and copied game in the history of the industry (everyone heard the words “C & C-Clon”). The essence is simple: you are immediately given a sufficient amount of resources to build a medium size army. Encouraged? Then save light tanks and infantry and go to crush the masses-into the so-called rash-Ataku. And if you like to smash the enemy with a tightly shot down detachment of super -junis, then invest in development – and after five minutes you will receive high -tech troops, one type of which will force the enemy to tremble! Discussing the Dune's sense and arrangement, Westwood in front of our eyes turned the genre into a pop: the energetic first verse (quick construction of the base) and adhesive refrain (Mamaev hike a pack of something) made us scroll through the gameplay melody again and again.
There is Tiberius – to be a war. C & C from a bird's eye view

The invented Westwood Brotherhood NOD is both a megacorporation and a religious sect with extremist views. Brotherhood arises a few years after the appearance of Tiberius, the first to master the technology of processing the mineral, and reads it for the religious revelation given to humanity from above. In the nineties, business giants were gaining political weight, and Westwood hint was obvious.
Brotherhood leader – Kane – Mistifier number one on the other side of the monitor, not without reason for all 15 years we have not recognized his last name! Charming, cruel and insidious, Kane is an immortal prophet and permanent leader NOD. Already in Tiberian Dawn, he is revealed in all charisma: it bursts into the frame, carrying with him both great revelations for followers and a harsh punishment for enemies – both obvious and imaginary.
The Confederation of GDI, which is undoubtedly written off with the United States, propagates freedom, democracy and conservative Western foundations, seeing in Tiberia an exceptionally global problem of all mankind. Against the backdrop of religious manners of the Brotherhood, GDI Motivation always looks fresh. However, here an analogy is visible with the actually existing SDI project – an American defense program created to protect from Soviet nuclear missiles.
Now mix all this in one cocktail – and the receipt and those two absolutely opposite the ideologies of the Pole of Power, one merciless Messiah and the global problem – one on all. This cocktail is Tiberian Dawn. Further, for many continuations, we were expected, in fact, the interpretation of the same plot, but with the participation of cyborgs (Cabal), aliens (Scrins), mutants (Forgotten), space stations and ships (Philadelphia and Kodiak). A grandiose interactive seat based on the universe, which, by the way, is not compileable, unlike the world of eternal rut-competing C& C- Starcraft.

Everyone can now update the memories of Tiberian Dawn-for several years the veteran game is available for free download on the EA website. … And now the screen of the main menu is again illuminated by two nuclear mushrooms: in Command & Conquer with excess, more than necessary. This is a sign of an era – during the years of formation, the video game industry did not know a sense of proportion. And therefore, the CG-Strives were not bored, and the scenes played at the level of the district Youth Theater wanted to review several times-as an old newsreel. Living actors who look directly in the camera (read: at the player) created a special mood of involvement in the world backstage, and in some places they simply shocked. Especially one of the first appearance on the screen of Kane-Kukan, who calmly shot his fallen adviser Seth, has cold-blooded. No wonder the motto of Kane – "Peace through force".
The symbol of this force in C& C was a mammoth-tank belonging to GDI. Even if you are familiar with the series, hap, you probably heard about it. A multi-tonal double-barreled supplier of local Armageddonov-such a shameless handling of the NOD game balance could answer only with a sabotage stealth tank. Dear and practically no armor, he, however, possessed the regime of invisibility, and in skillful hands it was stealth, and not the mammoth became the most effective unit in the game.

I don't want to finish the article on a minor note, but still I will have to. In the spring of 2010, a strategy with a simple and concise name was published: Command and Conquer 4: Epilogue. We were promised many different modes of the game, frisky contractions without any construction, a convenient multiplayer. What happened in the end is that everyone knows. The game was sold recordly low for C&D circulation and was coldly met by the press. For fans, this was the last blow, and the commenty sites began to close one after another.
According to rumors, the word "epilogue" in the name C & C 4 is erroneously – they say, there will still be games. True or not – who knows. With confidence, we can only say one thing: golden years Command & Conquer was left behind, and even if the next C & C is good, then he certainly does not compete in military exploits with his great -great -great -grandfather Tiberian Dawn.
What it was? The layout of the genre: the first RTS that requested the CD in the drive-with the full, I must say, the right.
